Invisible hands Award Banquet 2013
The snow on Jan 25, 2013 did not stop us from warming up at Invisible Hands Award Banquet 2013. The theme of the Banquet was Reaching Out. The theme is our goal for this year . We are trying to start 2013 by reaching out in many ways to keep our spirit alive.
Nathalie Pluvoise was the MC of the Banquet. She was surprised that she was chosen for Performing Arts of the Year for her undying commitment to the company and her sportsmanship. There was two receptions of Rising Star of the Year, not one….They are Erin Ginn of National Deaf Dance Theater and Jarez Selby of The Wild Zappers. The Community Arts Award of the Year goes to Yola Rozynek of Model Secondary School for the Deaf for her undying effort keeping community performers together, alumni dancers and high school students in the field of Performing Arts.
Interpreter of The Year Award went to Eileen Roberson for her work in performing arts community, especially in deaf gospel community. Mervin Primeaux was the keynote speaker. he spoke about his experience as performing artist in high school , college and real world. He stated that people has reaching for him throughout his life and brought him to where he is today. It is his turn to reach out to others. He has given us space to rehearse for our group….Talking about reaching out!
It was sponsored by Gallaudet University ODES. Speaking of warming us up, the food from Hog on the Hill warmed our soul. It was a great event for everyone, students, educators and community.
